European shorthair cat
There is an opinion that European cats originate from Egyptian cats, which, in due time, were brought by Roman legionaries first to Italy, and from there the cats spread throughout the empire.
In the 10th century, domestic cats were distributed throughout most of Europe and Asia, and were, like their ancestors, shorthair. Subsequently, when cats with long hair began to be taken out of eastern countries, animals with long hair began to appear among short-haired cats. Continue reading
British shorthair cat
What qualities are strongly associated with the Victorian era? Most likely, this is aristocracy and power. For many people, the British Shorthair cat has the same associations. And this is not surprising – because the breed was bred by English gentlemen and presented to the public in the seventies of the nineteenth century. British cats were obtained by crossing aboriginal cats with representatives of other breeds, among which were Persian cats. Bengal cat
Bengal cats are a unique breed, obtained by a hybrid way. In the forests of India, China, Thailand, and the Philippines, Felis Bengalensis has long been living – animals from the cat family. There were these animals in the Far East. However, by the 60th. last century wild Bengal cats were on the verge of extinction.
Poachers shot beautiful animals for their spotty skins. Exotic kittens were readily acquired by tourists, who did not know how difficult it was to keep a wild animal at home. Continue reading
