Day of the exhibition: registration, examination, rings

The first trip to the exhibition is always fraught with some bustle, uncertainty and fear. An inexperienced owner is lost in a crowd of people, in the ranks of the enclosures, amid noise and din: where to go first, where to leave things, what table can I take? So that confusion does not put to enjoy the trip, it is advisable to know in advance how cat shows are held.
The article describes the exhibitions on the WCF system, since under the auspices of this particular felinological organization most of the exhibitions in Russia and the near abroad are held.
Try to calculate the time so that you arrive at the place at least 30 minutes before the exhibition starts (if the event is large, then in an hour). This is important for several reasons:
you will definitely have time to go through all the necessary procedures, you will not be late for the examination;
you do not have to stand in long queues;
you can take the most comfortable place;
the cat will come to its senses after the trip, get a little comfortable, get used to an unfamiliar environment and will behave more calmly during the examination.
check in
Arriving at the place, first go to the registration desk. You need to confirm your presence: grab a passport, a copy of the pedigree / metric, a payment receipt, or money if the exponential fee has not yet been paid. The secretary will give you an exhibition catalog and two pieces of paper with the number assigned to the cat. Carefully check all the data in the catalog, compare them with a copy of the pedigree. If an error is found, go back to the table and fill out a special form in which you indicate an unfortunate misunderstanding. The blank must be handed over to the secretariat before the exhibition.
Veterinary control
After successfully completing the registration, take the cat, documents and take a turn to the table, at which the veterinarian sits. Only absolutely healthy animals are allowed to participate. If the veterinarian suspects that the cat has parasites or symptoms of any disease, the cat will not be allowed to be examined (and all other cats, if the owner brought more than one animal to the exhibition). Do not pass vet control:
pregnant or nursing cat;
deaf cat;
an animal with claws removed (not cropped, but remotely operated);
overly aggressive cat.
When it’s your turn, show your veterinary passport with vaccination notes and a certificate issued by a state clinic (Form No. 1). You have to put the cat on the table and wait for the vet to examine it. Be sure to ensure that the surface is treated with a disinfectant, and only then put the pet on the table. And it is better to take a disposable diaper with you, which after inspection immediately throw it away (dozens are inspected on the control desk, and at major exhibitions hundreds of cats are not worth risking the health of the darling).
If the vet control is passed, you will be given a ticket, which must be kept until the end of the exhibition. If the exhibition lasts two days, the ticket is valid for both days, you do not need to re-take the veterinary control.
Accommodation
Passing into the hall, you will see a number of tables on which the owners put up tents and aviaries. When choosing a table, consider several factors:
how quickly you can get to the place of refereeing;
whether there are drafts in this place, whether there are nearby open windows, doors, noisy air conditioning;
whether all your belongings fit near the table, because you can not occupy a large area, as the neighboring tents are plus the owner, accompanying, bags and the like.
Set up a tent or aviary, decorate the box with curtains, place inside the tray, bedding, bowls. Plant a cat inside and check if the doors are securely closed. Hang a banner, decorations, toys and all that you have prepared for the organization of the “landing” place. Do not forget to attach the numbers issued at the registration (one piece of paper on the tent, the second on yourself, so that the exhibition organizers can always find you and your cat). Now you can look around a bit, talk with the guests of the exhibition, use the services of a professional photographer, have a snack – you just have to wait until the steward calls you to an expert.
Expertise
So, the most interesting thing: how are the cat shows on the WCF system? The action begins with an examination by class. The owner is waiting for his number to be called. Hearing the cherished numbers, he takes the cat and goes to the expert (almost always accompanied by a steward). The cat should be put on the table and given the opportunity to appreciate it – that is, do not interfere with the work of a professional. The owner should not speak with the expert in order to unwittingly (or consciously) not influence his decision (of course, if the expert asks questions, he needs to be answered). The judge knows only some information about the cat: breed, age, class, color. Neither the name of the breeder, nor the nickname of the cat, he does not know and will never ask for personal information from the owner. This is extremely important, since the expert must remain unbiased.
Most experts are friendly people, do not be nervous (the cat catches your mood, try to be calm and relaxed).
